Beyond the Body Between Two Realms is an Unreal Engine 5 interactive immersive experience (approx. 12 minutes). Set in 2058, the viewer becomes a player logging into Neurolink and navigating the work with a mouse. At key dialogue moments, players select on-screen options that steer the conversation.
The narrative unfolds across three interconnected worlds—reality, the virtual world, and a realm of consciousness—and progresses through three evolving avatar states: the human-like mirror, the uncanny hybrid, and the post-body entity. Bringing together digital fashion, avatar design, speculative world-building, and AI-mediated storytelling, the project examines how digital identity is reshaped and perceived as the body becomes diminished or dissolved, and how trust, empathy, and emotional legibility fracture and reconfigure within algorithmically governed systems of emotion and aesthetics.
World Setting
In 2058, a full-immersion neural interface called Neurolink has become part of everyday life. People use it to enter hyper-real virtual worlds where bodies can be rebuilt and identities exchanged, blurring the boundary between virtual and physical life.
As Neurolink spreads, strange cases appear: some users who “die” in the virtual world never wake up in reality and remain in unexplained comas. The developer, VIRGO Systems, denies any malfunction, while government investigations still have no clear answers.
